How to Get More Traffic to Your Blog
By OneCutContent
To get more traffic to your blog, write each post to answer one question that people in your market actually type, put that phrase where search engines look for it, and structure the post so that Google and the AI assistants can lift the answer straight out. Traffic to a blog is not luck and it is not volume; it is a hundred small pages, each the best answer to one small question, linked to each other.
What should each blog post be about?
The posts that bring traffic answer a question someone typed: "how much are closing costs in Ontario", "is now a good time to sell in Richmond Hill". A post about "the market" competes with everyone and ranks for nothing. Pick the question, make it the title, and answer it in the first paragraph before you explain it. That first paragraph is what Google shows as a snippet and what an assistant quotes.
Where should the focus keyword go in a blog post?
The question, in the words people type, is the focus keyword. It belongs in the title, within 60 characters; in the meta description, between 110 and 160 characters, written to be clicked; in the first sentence; in at least one heading; and in the page address. Then use it naturally, about once every 150 to 200 words, and stop. Stuffing costs rank. Our blog writer checks every article against these twelve rules and repairs the ones it can before you see it.
How do you structure a post so Google and AI quote it?
Search engines and AI assistants read structure. Headings that are themselves questions, a comparison table, a short list of steps, and a set of common questions with one-paragraph answers at the end each give a machine something to quote and a reader something to skim. A post with five clear sections, one table and five questions is the shape we use for every article, because it is the shape that gets pulled into answers.
How do internal links grow blog traffic?
Every post should link to two or three others and be linked from them. Links tell Google which page answers which question and pass authority from the pages that rank to the ones that do not yet. A closing-costs post links to the first-time-buyer guide, which links to the pre-approval post. Add the links when you publish, and go back to older posts to link the new one.
Can your videos bring more traffic to your blog?
The cheapest blog post is the webinar you already recorded. A 40-minute buyer seminar holds a dozen questions with answers already spoken; each is a post. Transcribe it, pick a question, write the post around it, and embed the clip that answers it. The clip keeps readers on the page, which is a ranking signal, and the post gives the video a home on your own domain. This is what our blog writer does from a video in a few minutes.
How do you promote a blog post?
- Post the first paragraph on LinkedIn with the link in the first comment, and on Facebook with the link in the post.
- Send the post to the people who asked the question: your buyers, in an email that says "you asked about this".
- Cut a Short or Reel from the same recording and put the post's address in the description.
- Update the post when the numbers change and re-share it. A refreshed post keeps ranking; a forgotten one slides.
The checklist we hold every article to
| Check | Rule | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Focus keyword | One phrase people type | A post about everything ranks for nothing |
| Title | Keyword included, 60 characters or fewer | Google cuts titles off around 60 |
| Meta description | Keyword included, 110 to 160 characters | The line under the title that earns the click |
| Opening | Keyword in the first sentence; answer first | Snippets and assistants quote the opening |
| Headings | Five or more; keyword in at least one | Structure is what gets skimmed and quoted |
| Table and questions | One comparison table; five common questions | Machines quote structure; readers skim it |
| Density | Natural use, under 1.5 per 100 words | Stuffing reads badly and costs rank |
Common questions
- How long should a blog post be to rank?
- Long enough to answer the question fully and no longer: usually 800 to 1,500 words for a real estate question. Length itself is not a ranking factor; a complete answer with clear structure is.
- How often should a real estate agent blog?
- One good post a week beats four thin ones. Each post should answer one question, and a single recorded webinar holds enough questions for a month.
- What is a focus keyword?
- The phrase somebody types to find the post, in their words: "closing costs Ontario", not "understanding transactional expenses". It goes in the title, description, first sentence, a heading and the page address, then is used naturally.
- Do blog posts help my videos, or the other way round?
- Both. A post built from a video gives the video a home on your own domain and keeps readers on the page longer; a clip from the same recording sends viewers to the post. One recording feeds both.
- How does OneCut Content write blog posts?
- From a topic or from one of your videos, in your voice, around a focus keyword chosen from the topic. Each article is checked against twelve search rules, repaired where it falls short, and delivered with its title, description, page address and paste-in HTML that carries article and question markup.
